30-year Santa Clara professor dies at age 62

Tyzoon Tyebjee's passion for teaching evident through his final class this year

Marketing professor Tyzoon Tyebjee, who loved the outdoors and taught at Santa Clara for more than 30 years, died Wednesday, April 9, from pulmonary cystic fibrosis. He was 62.

University President Paul Locatelli, S.J., will be the Class of 2008 commencement speaker, he revealed to The Santa Clara editors during a roundtable discussion on Monday, April 7. The Board of Trustees unanimously chose Locatelli as the graduation speaker as a way to honor him for his 20 years as president, but this news was only one piece of information Santa Clara's longest-serving president shared with The Santa Clara last week.

Textbook prices in university bookstores increase annually by about 6 percent per year, according to a study by the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
