Beginning fall 2009, all incoming students will be required to take courses centered on social justice and civic engagement. Business and engineering majors will have to complete a diversity course and four units of fine arts, and a campus writing center may be in use by faculty and tutors.

Bodies covered in faux blood littered the floor, bleachers and offices of the Leavey Center on Sunday around 1 p.m. as Santa Clara Emergency Medical Service team members rushed in and out with stretchers, neck braces and wheelchairs to reenact a simulated mass disaster situation.

Alumnus Mike Wiesner returned to campus in April with his college-themed T-shirt company, Major Fashion, to sell shirts that read phrases like, "I'm not a drama queen, I'm an actress," and "But what does it mean to have a philosophy degree?"
